Welcome to our June 2024 JOC Cooking Challenge!
Hello again, Japanese food enthusiasts! I’m excited to have you join us for our June Cooking Challenge. As we enter the start of summer break (which means a busy travel season), I wanted us to get back into the weeknight groove of simple, delicious, and healthy dinners.
This Month’s Recipe Challenge: Chicken Teriyaki
The recipe for this challenge is Chicken Teriyaki. Why chicken teriyaki? Because nothing is more classic than chicken teriyaki when it comes to Japanese home cooking.
However, when you Google ‘chicken teriyaki’ or ‘teriyaki chicken,’ you often come across different interpretations of this recipe, many of which use non-Japanese preparations. I wanted to use this opportunity to encourage you to try making chicken teriyaki using the authentic Japanese method!

This contest is open to everyone worldwide. We will randomly select 3 winners at the end of the challenge using random.org. Each winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
Everyone who has completed submission for the JOC Cooking Challenge is automatically entered into the prize draw.
Please note that we will NOT select winners based on the creationsbut you need to make sure your submission meets the scope of the recipe.
How to Join the JOC Cooking Challenge
Make Chicken Teriyaki and follow the recipe as closely as possible so your final dish will look similar to mine. For the vegan/vegetarian option, please submit your entry based on this Pan-Fried Teriyaki Tofu recipe.

To enter for your chance to win the prize (only one entry per person), please complete the following two steps:
- Email us your picture: Send one picture of your final dish via email (contest@justonecookbook.com) before 12 pm PST on June 30, 2024and;
- Leave a (honest) star rating and feedback on the Chicken Teriyaki recipe post: Use the same email address as your photo submission. We’d love to hear about your feedback, fun cooking moments, kitchen mishaps, or difficulties that you come across during the process. We understand it’s an additional step and we appreciate your feedback.
