At first glance, this sweet dish is similar to candy porridge. If the candil balls use sticky rice flour, it is different with snake fruit seeds which use mashed sweet potatoes. Salak seeds are then cooked in a thick sugar sauce and served with a drizzle of coconut milk. This dish is popularly eaten as takjil for breaking the fast in the month of Ramadan.
